My only real complaint is the joystick interface. Basically, the sound quality bottleneck will be from your car stereo and file quality, not from the player. I also use this player with the iRiver FM car adapter, and the results are very good. It won't handle very loud volumes, but that is to be expected since there is no pre-amp built in, and you are running off of the internal mic. The recording function is surprisingly robust allowing you to choose compression quality and producing very useable results. I wanted an mp3 player for two things: for use in my car with an adapter, and for recording quick sound bytes (i'm a musician). It probably goes without saying these days, but this does have a USB 2.0 interface, so files transfer pretty quickly too. The interface software is easy to install and use, and I found the process of moving and arranging files to be intuitive. Sound quality is excellent, and it comes with a nice compliment of accessories (armband, neck strap, case, headphones, line-in recording cable, USB cable). Comments: It looks like they changed this player slightly since I bought it a week ago, so I'm not sure if all the features are the same or not.Īssuming it's basically the same, this is a good, solid player.
